As Bandas de Pife, Zabumba, Esquenta Mulher – entre outros nomes como são conhecidas – foram a formação musical mais importante do interior do Nordeste por um longo tempo e perderam a função social para outras músicas, principalmente a partir do surgimento da cultura de massa, mas em cidades pequenas e vilarejos elas ainda são importantes para a comunidade, tanto para a realização da música religiosa quanto para a diversão.
Em alguns casos, a “Banda de Pife” tomar fortes valores artísticos – o caso da Princesa do Agreste. Esses grupos são muito variados de acordo com a localidade, como no Nordeste estão em todos os estados. A banda baiana é muito diferente de uma de “Banda Cabaçal” do Ceará, e é extremamente importante que as pessoas continuam a existir, para que os nossos eventos culturais continuar. O registo e divulgação podem ser uma maneira de apoiar e ajudar, desde que se garanta que os lucros retornar ao povo que a produziu.
Biu do Pife, músico experiente na música de Caruaru e no Nordeste, 50 anos de carreira em 2008. Gravou em 1976, com acompanhamento Jackson do Pandeiro, e foi por 20 anos à frente da Zabumba Cultural de Caruaru, onde gravou dois LPs. Cradle traz essa tradição: seu pai já era um jogador e Pife construtor em bezerros, sua cidade natal em Pernambuco rural, cerca de 107 km do Recife. Músicos tão brilhante como Biu, Toinho, Maurício José, Gerson, Vitorino e Ari também são excelentes e experientes. A dinâmica e as interpretações estão cheios de momentos de grande virtuosismo. Este ainda é o CD 1 de tudo o que vem em sete anos, quando foi fundada por Biu. Nenhum deles vive da sua música. Esperamos com este CD levar um pouco dessa cultura maravilhosa e foi especialmente Pife Caruaru brasileira, berço de grandes artistas, não só Pife, mas todas as artes.

The “Banda de Pife”, Zabumba, Heats Women – among other names as they are known – were the most important musical development of the Northeast for a long time and lost their social function to other music, mainly from the rise of mass culture, but in small towns and villages they are still important to the community, both for the holding of religious music and for fun.
